Resellers first to benefit from new course on converging technology 16/09/2008
Q6 first to offer CompTIA Convergence+ in the UK 16 September 2008: - Global IT trade association CompTIA has announced that training provider Q6, part of the REDTRAY group, has become the first to offer its Convergence+ certification – one of the UK’s only industry-approved qualifications on converging technologies. Q6’s long-standing success working with the IT channel means that the reseller community is expected to be the first to start taking the new course which is available now. CompTIA Convergence+ teaches technicians to understand, operate and fix technologies that combine different functionalities into a single device. Examples include media servers, TV set top boxes, and voice over IP equipment. “We have seen phenomenal growth in the number of devices that combine multiple technologies into a single package,” explains Matthew Poyiadgi, CompTIA’s European Vice President. “The growing number of these devices in offices and homes has meant an increase in the complexity of the technologies systems engineers need to understand and support. The result is a skills gap around converged technologies which urgently needs to be plugged.” Whilst the UK training market offers several courses on converging technologies, CompTIA’s is the only one that has the backing of the entire technology industry and offers a globally recognised certification upon completion. As Paul Sibley, Technical Director at Q6 explains, it is for this reason that Q6 has chosen to add the CompTIA certification to its armoury. “CompTIA is well respected, well established and well known across the industry. CompTIA Convergence+ provides an industry-recognised certification that candidates can use throughout their career. It allows them to prove their competency with an independent certification recognised all over the world. Few other options simply cannot carry the same credence.” Q6 is a global technical training services company specialising in data and voice communication technologies. It trains resellers, end-users and internal sales teams on technologies from vendors such as Netgear, Foundry Networks and Alcatel-Lucent. Q6 is now offering CompTIA Convergence+ through its new convergence-specific website which can be found at www.Q6Training.com/Convergence. Courses are available over durations of 3-5 days, depending on the prior experience of the delegates. They are available on a scheduled basis at the Q6 training centre in Windsor but the course content can also be tailored to specific requirements and run at customer sites if required. Q6 also offer a large range of specialised convergence courses on subjects such as SIP, IPTv and QoS technologies.

REDTRAY eLearning Package wins Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists IT Award 17/07/2008
North Tyneside nurse scoops top national award for developing an innovative method of delivering mandatory training to NHS staff
London, UK — 17 July 2008: - Kerry Watts, lead nurse for medicines management at Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, has won a Guild of Healthcare Pharmacists IT Award. The winning e-learning package, developed by blended learning specialist REDTRAY, delivers mandatory medicines management training.
The annual award which is supported by First DataBank Europe was set up to encourage, support and promote information technology initiatives and best practice in the use of IT in pharmacy. The judges were particularly impressed with the ability of the package to deliver training appropriate to the individual user regardless of their knowledge level and staff group.
Kerry had been running the trust’s medicines management training for 18 months but needed a new way to do things. “The traditional face-to-face staff training across 10 sites required a considerable amount of travelling for both me and delegates. In addition, time constraints often meant that sessions were reduced to just 30 minutes with no time to assess delegates’ knowledge. It was also difficult to deliver a programme that was relevant to people in different roles.”
Kerry identified that e-learning was the way forward and worked with REDTRAY to develop the new system. “I provided the material and discussed ideas for how this could work with REDTRAY and they developed the e-learning package. I’m really pleased with the product, I think it's excellent.
“The best thing is that the e-learning can accommodate a wide range of participants from doctors and healthcare assistants through to nurses and porters,” confirms Kerry. “It helps the user to identify those modules that are appropriate for them and they will only be assessed on these modules at the end of the programme.”
Kerry worked with colleagues across the Trust to get the e-learning package in place, including trialling it and finally rolling it out across Northumbria Healthcare’s 10 sites. To date, over 700 staff have taken part and their feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many impressed that it was relevant to their job, they could complete it at their own hospital base and at a convenient time.
Kerry adds: “I am delighted to receive this award which reflects the hard work we have done to get the project off the ground and I am equally delighted that it has been so well received by staff. The award recognition has also brought greater support and funding, so the next step is to update it with further content and new features based on user feedback.
“It’s been a highly valuable project for the Trust. It has saved a considerable amount of travelling time but most importantly, it has delivered a higher quality of training with the ability to undertake assessments of user understanding. I can now spend more time providing practical support training to those groups that have a identified a need for more input.”

Seven NHS Trusts Collaborate on E-learning for Mental Health 19/06/2008
London, ENGLAND, 19 June 2008: - In a unique collaboration, seven NHS Trusts across the South East of England have developed new e-learning programmes based on the specific needs of Mental Health care. With content designed by blended learning specialists REDTRAY, the e-learning courses will enable each participating trust to provide training in key areas of healthcare.
Three separate e-learning courses are now available: Managing Risk, Delivering CPA and Delivering Equality. The topics are aimed at all relevant Mental Health staff across the trusts (with a total of 16,000 potential users) and will give learners the opportunity to acquire knowledge and enhance skills within a Mental Health context. In addition, the e-learning has been developed so that individual trust logos can be added, or specific data customised within templates to better reflect local needs such as contact numbers or reference to local trust policies.
Mark Limber, Project Manager representing the seven SE Mental Health Trusts says, "We need to give staff access to a range of modular mental health learning materials but with a maximum saving on training time and minimum impact on their daily business of providing safe and therapeutic care to service users. E-learning is the ideal platform.
"After an open market tender, REDTRAY was selected as being the best supplier with its considerable track record in the health service," continues Mark. "REDTRAY has taken a lead role on the design work and has shaped much of the content, over and above what we'd have expected them to do. They've created an exceptional e-learning product during this very successful partnership."
REDTRAY has used industry best-practice to ensure that the e-learning is easy to use and is based on the needs of the learners. Through 'bite-size' learning sessions that are highly interactive, the e-learning programme covers the following modules: - Managing Risk embraces the various applications of risk management within healthcare, including business, clinical and employment related (health and safety) issues. It is intended to address knowledge rather than skill acquisition.
- Delivering CPA is aimed at individuals who have direct user contact and therefore should be involved in contributing to the CPA process. The aim is to develop knowledge and skills about the process and principles of the CPA. This course aims to help individuals to understand the structures of the CPA framework and empower them to be part of the process of recovery with service users.
- Delivering Equality is intended for all members of the workforce both medical and non-medical. The learning programme considers the needs of staff working in corporate functions such as finance, communications, human resources, estates and the needs of clerical and managerial staff.
E-learning is new to the Surrey and Boarders Partnership NHS Trust. Nicola Carter, the Trust's Learning and Development Coordinator found that working with the other trusts was "extremely rewarding". Nicola discovered that sharing ideas, not just about the e-learning, has been a key benefit of the collaboration.
Nicola adds: "It's very rare to find mental health specific e-learning, so this initiative is particularly valuable. REDTRAY has listened to what we wanted and has created an excellent product. It is clear and comprehensive and the assessments are concise and simple to use. I hope it will be extremely useful for our 3,850 staff across 134 different trust sites. And I'm particularly keen to get the training to people who usually miss traditional classroom sessions such as part-time workers and night-staff."
The e-learning project represents the beginning of a formal partnership of mental health trusts in the SE of England. It is hoped that further collaborative work will be undertaken within this structure and that it can be expanded to encompass other organisations across the country. By working together, the participating trusts will realise benefits of shared best practice, reduced costs and more effective delivery of learning.
So far, the project has delivered huge economies of scale through shared procurement and wide access to digital resources and information systems, combined with quality through shared tools and resources, and common standards of design and effectiveness.

The easy and cost effective way to stay compliant with Anti Money Laundering Regulations 16/11/2006
London, UK - 16 November 2006: REDTRAY and specialist forensic accountants, Bridges & Partners, today launch the Anti Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Centre. This unique online resource provides a highly cost effective and time efficient way for organisations to comply with the Money Laundering Regulations 2003 and will be extended by the Third EU Directive that is due to enter into force by December 2007. The Second & Third EU Directives extend the law to a wider cross section of UK organisations that were previously unaffected including accountants, lawyers, estate agents, casinos, dealers in high value goods and the insurance sector. The legislation carries criminal sanctions ranging from 2 years for failure to have systems and procedures (including the initial and continued training of relevant staff) in place to prevent Money Laundering, to 14 years for involvement. The AML Compliance Centre includes the systems, the procedures and the training to ensure companies are able to comply with the law and manage their exposure to risk. The online training regime not only enables a business to train their staff, it also has provision for the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to administer the initial and continued training programmes and maintain an audit trail to prove that staff have been trained. Competency levels can be checked through user definable exams. A comprehensive compliance manual is provided, (which is a legal requirement) alongside other useful tools for the MLRO. One of the distinguishing strengths of the AML Compliance Centre is the Editorial Board which is drawn from leading legal, industry and training experts. The editors are responsible for providing a continuous updating service in this fast moving area of law, regulation and best practice. Martyn Bridges, partner at Bridges & Partners says, "When the law first came into effect, we found that many smaller organisations just couldn't afford the initial and ongoing compliance costs to meet the requirements of the Money Laundering Regulations 2003 (MLR). Over the past 18 months, we've pooled the expertise of our AML legal team along with the online education skills of REDTRAY. The result is an easy to use and cost effective way for organisations (both large and small) to be lawfully compliant. Most importantly, due to the flexible web-based format, delegates can progress through the courses with minimal disruption to their working day." Bourne Training will continue to trade independently under the Bourne brand for the foreseeable future. The MLR requires that organisations must establish internal procedures to identify Money Laundering activities and have communication systems in place to deal with any issues. It also requires that all relevant employees have their attention drawn to the relevant provisions of the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002, the Terrorism Act 2000 and the MLR. The MLR requires relevant employees to be given training in how to recognise and deal with transactions that may be related to Money Laundering. Charles Purle QC, Head of Chambers, New Square Chambers and Consultant Legal Editor on the AML Compliance Centre says, "Compliance training is not a luxury but a mandatory legal requirement. The consequences of treating this requirement lightly are serious, ranging from likely loss of insurance cover to criminal responsibility." Rowan Bosworth-Davies. a leading international expert in fraud prevention and anti-money laundering and deputy editor on the AML Compliance Centre adds, "To be fully compliant with anti-money laundering regulations, competent and effective training is now recognised as being the issue of primary importance. The risk based approach mandates that training must now take priority if businesses are to benefit from the advantages which the risk based approach provide. This product delivers a holistic approach to both the training imperative and the practical requirements of best practice regulatory provision." The AML Compliance Centre is a unique hosted service built on REDTRAY's ALTO platform - an integrated suite of web-based tools that deliver blended learning solutions. Customers can use ALTO for everything from managing course bookings and training schedules, measuring/testing levels of knowledge and then following up with the creation, deployment and management of e-Learning content to staff. ALTO also acts as a central knowledge repository for the organisation. The solution represents a cutting edge solution in this difficult, risky and potentially expensive area of compliance.

Institute of Sport and Recreation (ISRM) takes action to improve spa pool safety with first e-Learning initiative. 27/03/2006
London, ENGLAND, 27 March, 2006 - The Institute of Sport and Recreation (ISRM) has joined forces with e-Learning specialist REDTRAY to provide the first interactive training course aimed at reducing the risk posed to the general public from spa pools. The ISRM has moved quickly to develop this course having been inundated with requests for training since a report was published by the Health Protection Agency. The report found that over a quarter of spa pools contained the potentially lethal legionella bacteria. Of those that tested positively for the bug only two thirds met acceptable standards. This alarming report follows a number of high profile outbreaks of legionnaires disease linked with poor management practice in the operation of spa pools. A number of deaths have occurred from outbreaks and the need to improve standards through training of staff is now greater than ever. Dr John Lee, an expert of water-borne infection at the HPA, said: "Spa pools provide the perfect conditions for certain bacteria to survive and cause infection because they have a raised water temperature and conditions that create an aerosol of water. They can also have large number of bathers compared to water volume. If pools are correctly disinfected, fully drained once a week and use the correct filtration they will not normally contain these bacteria. However, in poorly maintained pools the conditions will be perfect for the growth of bacteria and these have been identified as a cause of infection in the past." This special online course has been designed so that spa pool operators don't have to take lots off time of work to attend residential courses already provided by the ISRM. As well as being more affordable way to train staff, managers can also; Monitor who goes through the course · Test their knowledge · Identify where staff are having difficulty with their understanding · Allow staff to undertake the training at convenient times - at home or at work · Meet their requirements for training under the COSHH Regulations 2002 as well as other responsibilities under other pieces of Health and Safety Law. Commenting on the course Martin Steer, Education and Training Development Officer for the ISRM said; The Health Protection Agency report has proved that we need to take spa pool safety seriously. This course provides an easy training solution to any establishment or business that operates Spa pools commercially. All the basics are covered - to meet Health and Safety requirements, in a language that is easy to understand. In fact this on-line course will be of interest to anyone who wants to learn more about Spa pool safety". Vicky Jones, Account Director at REDTRAY added; "We hope that this course will be of strong appeal to the leisure, health and sports community. The fact that it can be bought online and delivered instantaneously means that staff can be properly trained within a matter of days or even hours if need be. The quicker the training takes place the quicker the UK's spa pools will become safer." The course costs £25 per user and consists of four modules and an exam. Upon successful completion candidates will be eligible to receive an ISRM certificate of achievement. The course can be viewed and purchased at www.altoonline.com/ISRM. e-Learning is a very efficient and effective weapon in the war against money laundering - Book published on 18th November contains a chapter showing how! 07/11/2005
Anti-Money Laundering A Guide for Financial Services Firms Edited by Tim Gough Price:£99 / $178 / €149 Binding: Hardback Book Size: 155mm x 235mm Pages: c. 250pp ISBN: 1 904339 78 6 Following a number of successes with some very high profile financial and professional services firms, REDTRAY's Learning Services Director, Tim Gibson, shares hints and tips, demonstrating how e-Learning can be used in the fight against money laundering. Faced with reams of information on Anti Money Laundering (AML) and practitioners' responsibilities, it is often difficult to know where and how best to establish and maintain an effective regime. This book takes a very practical approach to getting things done and favours checklists, tables and flowcharts over lengthy discussions of legislation and theory. Tim's chapter, entitled "Managing your AML awareness and training responsibilities using e-Learning" discusses FSA requirements and in particular what it means to provide "regular training" and ensure everyone is "made aware of" the law, their responsibilities and the personal as well as professional consequences of any breach in the law. Taking a user- and stakeholder-centred view throughout, Tim provides simple heuristics for: deciding whether to insource and/or outsource; selecting off the peg content and testing, preferring off the peg but then having it altered, or going for a bespoke option; and selecting the most appropriate development partner(s). Lastly he provides a project management process based on the acronym "grounded" to help ensure a happy and successful outcome.

REDTRAY launches Learning Content Management System 08/03/2004
London, ENGLAND, March 2004, REDTRAY Ltd the provider of end to end bespoke e-Learning and knowledge management systems announces IMPACT, an innovative Learning Content Management System. IMPACT provides organizations with a simple, quick to implement solution to the challenges of planning, creating, delivering, and managing e-Learning content which adds value by supporting business goals. Many of today's Learning Management Systems originate from a technology perspective and are characterized by their size, complexity and cost - IMPACT is different. REDTRAY's pedigree in running successful education and training businesses suggested a simpler approach. Whilst recognizing the differences in the e-Learning medium, there is much to be learned from the instructor led world, and this has had a major influence on the design of IMPACT. "From our experience of creating bespoke e-Learning, our clients' biggest challenges have always been how to deliver the content, ensure that it gets used, and the ability to track and measure usage" says Fardad Gharebaghi, Managing Director of REDTRAY. He adds "We recognized a need for an inexpensive platform which was quick to implement, simple to manage and able to take away the Training Manager's principle headaches. Many Learning Management Systems represent a twenty-course lunch, whereas our clients told us they wanted a light snack, so that's exactly what we've produced". IMPACT is structured around a series of modules to enable the training professional to design courses, create content, build quizzes/assessments, personalize the delivery of the content, proactively motivate usage and encourage feedback and knowledge sharing.

REDTRAY Industry Awareness Course gains BTEC Accreditation 14/07/2003
London, ENGLAND, July 2003 - REDTRAY Ltd, the provider of innovative, blended learning solutions to the communications technology sector announces that its Industry Awareness e-Learning programme has been accredited by leading education body Edexcel as a Foundation Level BTEC. The two hour, on-line e-Learning course was designed and developed for Telewest Broadband as part of their commitment to the ongoing professional development of their employees, enabling them to deliver a better customer experience. The course is highly interactive in order to engage the learner and deliver an effective learning experience. "One of the industry's biggest challenges is managing the constant skills gap caused by rapidly decreasing product life-cycles. By contrast, the underlying technologies change slightly less rapidly, so it makes sense to ensure that people have a good grasp of the technologies" says Fardad Gharebaghi, founder and Managing Director of REDTRAY. Gharebaghi adds "Whether you're dealing with sales, marketing or customer services professionals, we know from experience that if they understand the technology then product familiarity is much quicker and results in greater understanding, which enables staff to be more effective. The Industry Awareness programme was designed to run on Telewest's Learning Management System, and contains before and after knowledge appraisals which can be tracked by Telewest. "The results have been most encouraging, as we've been able to see the users' scores increasing as they progress through the course" says Gharebaghi. Staff have responded positively too as they can see their knowledge levels improving quickly. Gharebaghi goes on to say "We are thrilled about this accreditation by Edexcel as it demonstrates what we knew to be true; that there is a tremendous need for technology awareness outside of the traditional technical departments. With this BTEC, staff and their employer know they are getting a nationally approved qualification which can only be good news for the professional development of the industry".

London, ENGLAND, June 2003 - REDTRAY Ltd, the provider of innovative, blended learning solutions to the communications technology sector announces the release of CourseBuilder, a web-based solution for assembling and delivering personalised e-Learning content. "One of the challenges with e-Learning is motivating a group with differing needs to start a course, and more importantly, to finish it" says Fardad Gharebaghi, founder and Managing Director of REDTRAY. "Short of building courses specific to each user based on a needs analysis exercise, personalisation has until now been difficult and expensive to achieve" adds Gharebaghi. CourseBuilder enables an organisation to deploy an e-Learning course where different users see different content according to a set of business rules. Says Gharebaghi "We build a course to meet a set of learning objectives, though we have to recognise that there will be differing levels of knowledge within the audience. With Course Builder we can configures the course so that different learners see a different set of chapters and modules". CourseBuilder works with every piece of bespoke REDTRAY e-Learning content, so training departments can maximise usage of courses and hence the value to the organisation.
